Comment by Yalily Marin-Navarro on June 16, 2011 at 9:07am Dover, the Town, was incorporated as a village in 1826 and on April 1, 1869 as a town. The town charter was amended in 1875.
Today, Dover has a large Hispanic population and a predominantly Spanish-speaking Ward. The Dover branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established June 6, 1982 to better accommodate the needs of its Spanish-speaking members in West Morris, Warren and Sussex Counties. President G. Timothy Pettitt, our Morristown Stake president, announced that Dover Branch became a Ward on April 3rd of this year.
Our Ward is preside by Bishop Arthur C. Linderman, who has served as the branch president since May 2005. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. "Growth in strength and numbers warrants this change in designation which allows for the full range of programs and services offered by the Church. But it is also an acknowledgement by the Church itself of the dedication and faith of its member who lovingly serve each other, their neighbors, and the Church," said Bishop Linderman.
Serving with Bishop Linderman are his newly assigned counselors Carl Clegg and Andrew Wolff, brother Juan Atehortua as the executive secretary.
Our Chapel is located at 103 Bassett Highway in Dover, NJ.
