FONDUE & SUMMERTIME IDEAS

The fundue was great.  Leisa Munns made the following fondues – cheese, chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, and she had marinated beef and chicken and provided hot oil to cook them in.  It was awesome.

Valene started out with saying that the bishop wanted to stress family home evening and wanted to get some new ideas out there.  She shared lots of different things that her family of 10 does for family reunions.  She’s the youngest and always gets put in charge.  The main goal in their family is getting the entire family to heaven.  Some ideas they have used are:  Hold to the Rod, Passing the torch through generations (with a tiki torch), they would share memories of her mom and dad and then tell what they do in their families now.  They have done the weakest link – and everyone makes a link in the paper chain and hopes that their link isn’t the one the breaks.  Light house in the storm.  They have made a tight rope between two trees and then have the kids try to walk on it, the little kids look up to the bigger ones.  Family is very important.

Linda Merrill had a handout (when you get your MK, I’ll give it to you).

Kathy Davis shared some places that her and Darren like to go:  Water fall by Swan valley, Bear Gulch by Ashton – they take 4 wheelers and ride the train tracks.  They like to go to Big Springs, Yellowstone park, Fire hole Falls, Harriman park.

Other ideas other sisters shared.

Kristy shared different inexpensive crafts you can get a Porters to entertain the kids for hours.  She had a bug house, Wooden Cabin picture frame, Magnets, Shadow box, Modeling clay, popsicle sticks, sidewalk chalk.

Leisa Munns ended with a lot of newspaper clippings she passed around.  She said to get the SCROLL at Albertsons and use the coupons on the front, the one she had was a coupon for yogurt, she said take the family out and have a treat.

Ideas she had – Chief Joseph battle field in Kilgore, float the warm river, go to a drive in movie (but bring an alarm clock, apparently they closed the place down, everyone was gone when they woke up), Spenser, Gilmore Ghost Town, Meadow Lake, Virginia City, Sand Creek, Civil Defense Caves, City of the Rocks, Shoshone Falls, and lots more.
